Wednesday, September 2, 2015

East Coast MP Anne Tolley says young people with an interest in politics and youth issues should consider applying to be the East Coast Youth MP in the 2016 Youth Parliament.

“Youth Parliament is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved, to understand how Parliament works and to represent their community and their peers to the country,” Mrs Tolley says.

“The successful East Coast Youth MP will join 121 others at Parliament in Wellington on 19 and 20 July 2016 and will hold the title from 25 January to 25 July 2016.

“Those interested should submit a 600 word essay or a digital presentation of no more than 4 minutes on an issue affecting young people which politicians should be more aware of, and why. Applications can be sent to by 30 September 2015 with ‘Youth MP’ in the subject line.

“This is a one in three year opportunity for a hardworking and determined young local to represent the East Coast and share their views and the views of their peers at the centre of decision making.

“I know there are many passionate young people in our electorate and I look forward to seeing that reflected in the applications,” Mrs Tolley says.

Applicants must between 16-18 years old on 16 October 2015 and available to attend Youth Parliament in Wellington on 19 and 20 July 2016.
