East Coast MP Anne Tolley says a $12 million investment in Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) for Whakatane is now complete.

“Whakatane is the twentieth town in New Zealand to have their UFB build completed under the first phase of the government programme,” Mrs Tolley says.

“More than 7,000 homes, schools and businesses are now able to connect to fibre – and 19 per cent have already done so.

“This is particularly important for our schools and business who are now more connected to the rest of the country and the rest of the world.

“Once the UFB programme is complete more than 1.459 million homes, businesses, schools and health facilities across the country will be able to connect to the network.

“Government has also committed an additional $210 million to extend UFB to at least 80 per cent of New Zealanders.
